Family Seeks Answers Three Weeks After Tragic Loss of Joshua Roberts
The family of 19-year-old Joshua Roberts from Caernarfon is still searching for answers three weeks after his untimely death.
Joshua, a well-known football fan and student at Cardiff Metropolitan University, tragically lost his life following an incident near Peblig Industrial Estate and Caeathro.
The local community in Caernarfon and beyond was deeply affected by his passing, highlighting his impact and presence in the area.
The Incident and Ongoing Investigation:
Joshua was pronounced dead on June 2 on the A4085 Ffordd Waunfawr in Caeathro, just outside Caernarfon.
Shortly after, a 19-year-old was arrested in connection with his death, but no further action was taken by North Wales Police.
Subsequently, on June 9, a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and released on bail pending further inquiries.
Police investigations are still ongoing, and authorities have appealed for any dash cam footage related to the incident.
Community Support and Mourning:
Joshua’s funeral took place with hundreds of mourners lining the streets of Caernarfon to bid him a final farewell.
His former football club, CPD Bontnewydd, raised over £20,000 for his family, and a charity match was organized in his memory.
The community has rallied together to show support and provide comfort during this difficult time.
Family’s Quest for Answers:
Despite the passage of three weeks since Joshua’s tragic death, there have been no significant updates from the police since June 8.
Joshua’s mother, Melanie Tookey, expressed the family’s hope for progress in the investigation.
She emphasized that Joshua was not involved in a reckless situation but was simply playing bingo in Glan Gwna.
The family eagerly awaits updates from the police and seeks closure regarding the circumstances surrounding Joshua’s passing.
Calls for Road Safety Assessment:
Concerns have been raised about the safety of the A4085 Ffordd Waunfawr, where the accident occurred.
Local politicians and representatives, including Siân Gwenllian MS, Hywel Williams MP, Caernarfon Town Mayor Cai Larsen, and local councillors Menna Trenholme and Dewi Wyn Jones, have jointly written to Cyngor Gwynedd, urging them to assess the safety of the road.
Previous accidents and the road’s layout indicate potential dangers, prompting the need for immediate action to prevent future incidents.
In response to the letter, a spokesperson for Cyngor Gwynedd expressed their condolences to Joshua’s family and friends during this difficult time.
They assured that the council would collaborate closely with the police and consider necessary measures based on the findings of the investigation.
Road safety will be a priority as they assess and determine improvements to prevent future accidents on the A4085 Ffordd Waunfawr.
The tragic loss of Joshua Roberts has left his family devastated and in search of answers.
The community’s outpouring of support has been heartwarming, but closure and understanding are essential for the healing process.
The ongoing police investigation and calls for road safety assessment highlight the need for comprehensive measures to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
The family and community hope that their quest for answers will soon be met, allowing them to remember Joshua’s life and legacy with peace and fond memories.
