Trader Joe’s recalls Organic Acai Bowl over plastic contamination concerns urging customers to return or discard the product nationwide

A popular frozen breakfast item from Trader Joe’s is off the shelves after concerns over possible plastic contamination.

The grocery chain has recalled its Organic Acai Bowl, urging customers to discard or return the product for a full refund.

Recall Notice and Customer Advisory

The recall, announced on February 14, came with a warning for shoppers to stop consuming the acai bowls immediately.

Trader Joe’s released a statement advising customers to either throw away the product or return it to their nearest store for a full refund.

The company emphasized that this measure was taken out of an abundance of caution due to the potential presence of plastic in the bowls.

However, the recall notice did not specify lot numbers or production dates, leaving uncertainty about which batches were affected.

Customers with concerns were encouraged to contact Trader Joe’s customer relations for more details.

The Popularity of Trader Joe’s Organic Acai Bowl

Sold at just $3.99, the Organic Acai Bowl has been a go-to frozen option for health-conscious shoppers.

The recall comes as a disappointment for fans of the product, but safety remains a top priority for the grocery chain.

Previous Recalls and Food Safety Concerns

This isn’t the first time Trader Joe’s has had to recall a product due to contamination risks.

Just last year, the company pulled four items from shelves—Chicken Enchiladas Verde, Cilantro Salad Dressing, Elote Chopped Salad Kit, and Southwest Salad—after a listeria outbreak linked to Rizo-Lopez Foods dairy products.

That recall was part of a larger FDA investigation into contaminated cheeses, crema, and yogurt.

Another Food Recall Hits Grocery Stores

In a separate recall announcement, the FDA revealed that a pre-packaged breakfast snack was pulled from stores in 13 states due to an undeclared allergen risk.

The product, Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes, contained wheat and eggs that were not listed on the label, posing a serious danger to individuals with food allergies or celiac disease.

The snack packs, distributed to Kroger and Meijer locations across multiple states, were recalled after a labeling mistake was discovered.

With 694 cases affected, the mislabeling could lead to severe allergic reactions for consumers with dietary restrictions.

What’s Next for Trader Joe’s Customers?

For now, Trader Joe’s is advising customers to check their freezers and dispose of any Organic Acai Bowls they may have purchased.

Anyone who recently bought the product can return it to a Trader Joe’s store for a refund, with no receipt required.

Shoppers with additional concerns can reach out to Trader Joe’s customer service for further clarification.

As food safety remains a pressing issue, consumers are encouraged to stay updated on recalls through the FDA’s official website or their grocery store’s announcements.
