What To Know About Easter Celebration

Easter, also known as Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a Christian celebration and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which is said to have occurred on the third day after his death by the Romans at Calvary, according to the New Testament.

Easter is celebrated by Christians all around the world today.

It is a day on which Christians commemorate Jesus Christ’s resurrection three days after his crucifixion on the cross of Calvary nearly 2000 years ago.

Easter is regarded as the most important Christian celebration because Christians would have no hope without Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.

To commemorate the day, services will be held in all of the churches today.

Tomorrow has been declared a public holiday by the federal government to commemorate Easter Monday.

Meanwhile, Right Reverend Prosper Amah, the Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, has urged Christians to use the Easter season to establish trust and total reconciliation among themselves.

Bishop Amah warned the faithful against acts that could cause Easter to lose its concept and purpose in his Easter sermon presented at the Bishops Court Atani.

Bishop Amah urged leaders at all levels to follow Jesus Christ’s humility in their service in order to ensure that the community develops evenly.

He urged Christians to embrace the Easter season to pray for God’s intervention in a number of issues plaguing the country, particularly insecurity.
