Pulaaku Initiative Endorsed by President Tinubu with N50 Billion Support

Vice President Kashim Shettima has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has officially endorsed the “Pulaaku Initiative,” a non-violent strategy designed to address the escalating issues of insurgency and banditry in the Northern region.

Shettima revealed that Tinubu has committed an initial sum of N50 billion to support the initiative, underscoring the government’s dedication to tackling insecurity nationwide.

Presidential Approval for Pulaaku Initiative

Speaking at the inauguration of a two-day Roundtable on Insecurity in Northern Nigeria, organized by the Coalition of Northern Groups, Shettima shared that the Pulaaku Initiative received presidential approval.

The theme of the event focused on a “Multi-Dimensional Approach to Tackling Insecurity in Northern Nigeria.” Shettima, the former Governor of Borno, conveyed this significant development during his opening speech at the roundtable.

Geographical Scope and Transformative Goals

Shettima outlined the geographical scope of the Pulaaku Initiative, highlighting that it would commence in seven Northern states: Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Benue, Zamfara, Niger, and Kaduna.

The initiative aims to address the root causes of challenges in the region through a non-kinetic solution. The first instance of funding, amounting to N50 billion, is expected to catalyze the fortunes of the Northern region.

Equal Treatment for All Regions

In emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing the diverse needs of each region, Shettima stated, “Every part of the country is equal to the rest.”

The transformative journey embarked upon for the North involves the initiation of the Pulaaku Initiative to enhance living conditions and livelihoods.

The allocated funds will be utilized for the construction of residences, roads, schools, and other essential facilities in the selected states, promising to bring about positive changes and opportunities.

Shettima expressed that the Pulaaku Initiative’s strategic commencement would involve the construction of crucial infrastructure such as residences, roads, and schools.
