In Defense of Beyoncé’s Aesthetic Choice
Tina Knowles, the mother of global icon Beyoncé, took a stand against critics who accused the singer of “wanting to be white” due to her recent choice of platinum blonde hair.
In a scathing Instagram post on Nov. 28, Knowles addressed what she called “ignorant” and “self-hating” accusations.
Misinterpretation of the “Renaissance” Theme
Knowles expressed frustration over the misinterpretation of the theme behind Beyoncé’s tour documentary, “Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé.” She clarified that the entire theme revolved around silver, from hair to attire, and criticized those who saw it as an attempt to mimic whiteness.
Condemning the Entitlement of Outsiders
The matriarch revealed her disappointment after a “white woman felt so entitled to discuss [Beyoncé’s] blackness” and reached out to the singer’s hairstylist. Knowles emphasized that black women have embraced platinum hair for decades, countering the narrative that it signifies a desire to be white.
Addressing Haters and Promoting Unity
Tina Knowles passionately defended her daughter’s achievements, work ethic, and commitment to uplifting black women and underrepresented individuals.
She called out jealousy, racism, sexism, and double standards perpetuated by critics, asserting her frustration with what she labeled as “losers” attempting to bring Beyoncé down.
