The event, which occurred on Tuesday in the state’s Oshimili North Local Government Area (LGA), claimed the lives of a woman and two girls.
Bright Edafe, the Delta Police Public Relations Officer, verified the number of casualties, adding that 18 other individuals trapped in the wreckage had been rescued.
While it is unknown whether those rescued are all youngsters, Edafe did acknowledge that the search and rescue efforts had concluded.
According to him, 15 of the persons who were rescued were injured, and four of them have been released, while the remaining 11 are still being treated.
Meanwhile, Kingsley Otuaro, the state’s Deputy Governor, is expected to inspect the collapsed structure, according to sources.
It is expected that he will answer questions bordering on the cause of the incident and actions to be taken by the state government to prevent a recurrence.
Channels Television had reported the building collapse in which several persons were trapped in the rubble.
As soon as the incident occurred, officials of the red cross and fire service, as well as security operatives were said to have raced to the scene.
Search and rescue operations began thereafter, leading to the recovery of the survivors from the rubble, but not with three lives lost.
