Thursday, February 3, 2022 – President Uhuru Kenyatta is currently in mourning following the death of his close family member.
Nicholas Muratha Mugo, who is the husband of nominated Senator, Beth Mugo, died on Thursday according to close family members.
The family said Mugo, 86, will be cremated tomorrow in a private ceremony in Nairobi.
“Nicholas Muratha Mugo is set to be cremated tomorrow,” said a family member.
The two have been married for sixty-one years. The deceased once served as ambassador in former President Mwai Kibaki’s administration.
Beth Mugo is one of the longest-serving legislators in the country.
She served as a cabinet secretary in Kibaki’s administration. She was nominated in 2017 by Jubilee Party to represent women in the senate.
Kenyans across the political divide have sent a message of condolences to Beth Mugo and her family.
Beth Mugo is President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin.
