A dramatic rescue unfolded in the Peak District on Saturday when a 19-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after falling approximately 20 metres at the scenic Dovedale valley near Derby.
The teenager was quickly located and airlifted by helicopter to a trauma unit in Stoke for urgent treatment. Authorities have not yet released an update on his condition.
Mountain Rescue and Ambulance Teams Spring Into Action
Local ambulance crews and the Derby Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) responded immediately to the incident.
The rapid coordination between ground teams and the air ambulance ensured the teenager received prompt medical attention, highlighting the importance of emergency preparedness in popular outdoor areas.
Separate Search for Missing Walker Unfolds Nearby
Not long after the airlift, DMRT received another call regarding a missing person in the same area.
A concerned visitor reported that her sister had gone missing while exploring the Peak District as part of a coach trip.
She was last seen walking up Thorpe Cloud, prompting a swift search by the rescue team.
Missing Hiker Found Safe
Following the initial rescue, DMRT shifted focus to locate the missing walker.
They tried contacting her via text and voicemail while thoroughly checking likely spots in the vicinity.
Fortunately, the woman was soon located safe and sound with the rest of her group in Ilam.
The rescue team advised on reuniting the group to ensure everyone’s safety.

In a statement, DMRT explained: “While responding to a trauma incident at Dovedale, we were alerted about a potential missing person.
After completing the initial rescue, our team conducted inquiries and checked the surrounding area.
The individual was later contacted and confirmed safe with the group.
Appropriate guidance was provided to ensure a smooth reunion.”
