Tebogo Langerman Opens Up About How Buying His First R3 Million House in Ruimsig Led to Financial Struggles and Relationship Tensions with Pitso Mosimane

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Tebogo Langerman recently shared an eye-opening story about his financial choices after buying his first house.

The 38-year-old retired footballer, who had a highly successful nine-year stint with Masandawana, winning over 10 trophies, opened up on the Trap and Pass podcast about his experience when he splurged after purchasing his property.

The Problems That Came with a R3 Million Home

Langerman admitted that buying his first house in Ruimsig, a suburban area in the west of Johannesburg, led to some unexpected problems.

He bought the home in the mid-2010s for R3 million and thought it would be a major achievement.

“I used to be the guy without a house, and suddenly I had a big one with a pool big enough for all the Sundowns players to fit in.

That’s when the issues started,” he explained.

He vividly recalled the excitement of receiving the keys to his new home and immediately throwing a massive housewarming party.

“I invited everyone from the team except the coaches.

At the time, I had R570,000 in my bank account after we’d just won a trophy, but I can’t even remember which one,” Langerman said.

A Weekend of Lavish Spending on Friends and Parties

The former footballer went on to explain how he spent a significant amount of money on his friends that weekend. “I lived a good life. I was throwing P. Diddy-style parties.

We had a no-phone policy—no one was allowed to take pictures.

At the time, I didn’t even have furniture in the house yet, so we had to order food and just enjoy the party,” Langerman added.

Langerman didn’t shy away from admitting how reckless he was with his finances, spending over R400,000 on partying with friends in a single weekend.

How Buying the House Affected His Relationship with Pitso Mosimane

Unfortunately, Langerman also revealed that his relationship with then-coach Pitso Mosimane soured after purchasing the house.

He explained that Mosimane was confused and possibly upset about how he managed to afford the property. “Buying the house ended up affecting my relationship with the old man (Mosimane).

After I bought it, he called me into a meeting. It felt like he didn’t know how I bought the house.

I wasn’t sure if I bought it on my own or if the club had helped me,” Langerman recalled.

Although Langerman didn’t delve deeper into the fallout or the details of what happened with the house, he did mention that he planned to return to the Trap and Pass podcast to share more of his story.

Looking Back on His Football Career and Titles

Langerman’s football career was marked by significant achievements, including seven league titles with Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United.

Despite the challenges he faced after his purchase, he certainly had a successful run on the field.
