Team Nigerian wins 16 medals in 2022 African Track Cycling Championship

At the 2022 African Track Cycling Championship, which came to an end on Sunday at the velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria placed fourth.

16 medals in all, including four gold, eight silver, and four bronze, were won by Team Nigeria.

South Africa came out on top, taking first place in the medals table with a total of 42 medals, including 20 gold, 13 silver, and 9 bronze.

With 26 medals, including eight gold, eight silver, and ten bronze, Egypt came in second.

Algeria finished in third place with 17 medals, including five gold, five silver, and seven bronze.

Team Morocco finished the competition in fifth place with 13 total medals—four gold, five silver, and four bronze—while Cote d’Ivoire and the Benin Republic each won one bronze.

The Championship featured 15 nations competing in 11 different events, including sprint, team sprint, time trials (1km/500m), keirin, and team pursuit.

Other events included Madison for women’s, men’s, and junior divisions as well as individual pursuit, Scratch, elimination, Omnium, and points races.
