Suspected business robber arrested

A 30-year-old suspect has been arrested following a shooting in the Durban CBD.

It is alleged that the suspect was trying to rob businesses in the area.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the suspect was found in possession of a pistol with five rounds of ammunition.

“Police proceeded to the identified area near the grave yard where a 30-year-old suspect was arrested. The suspect was found in possession of a pistol with five rounds of ammunition. It was established that he had a gunshot wound on his right thigh and it is unknown how he was shot.”

“He was positively linked to the business robbery and will also be profiled to check if he is linked to other robbery cases reported in Durban and surrounding areas. The suspect was taken to hospital for medical attention. He is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrates’ Court soon, once [he is] discharged from hospital,” explains Gwala.
