Sunshine Stars of Akure are hopeful that the League Management (LMC) will give approval for the Akure township stadium to host league matches.
The LMC had earlier ruled that the Akure side play all their home matches at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.
But following expedited action in renovating the Akure stadium, hopes are high that top-flight football will soon return to the Ondo state capital.
Sunshine Stars FC is upbeat the ongoing renovation and repair work at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure will help lift the LMC restriction on the stadium.
“While the season opener has come a bit too soon for the facility upgrade, the management is working assiduously to ensure the facility get the league authority nod to host NPFL matches in the 2021/22 season,” the club said in a statement.
“Repair and revitalisation of the pitch is at the final stage while work is in full swing at the dressing room with the reserved (technical) bench certain to wear a new-look at the completion of the renovation.
