Stroke Survivor Mauled to Death by Pitbulls in Case of Mistaken Address

“Tragedy Strikes: Stroke Survivor Fatally Mauled by Pitbulls in Heart-Wrenching Incident”

In a devastating turn of events, Antonio Shaw, a 63-year-old man who had become non-verbal due to a series of strokes, lost his life after being viciously attacked by two pitbulls.

The incident occurred when Shaw mistakenly entered the wrong house on North 62nd Street in West Philadelphia on October 4.

Attack by Vicious Pitbulls

As Shaw entered the residence, two of the five pitbulls in the home launched a brutal attack on him. Sharese Jackson, Shaw’s sister, described the horrifying scene, stating, “These dogs were very vicious and hungry.

These dogs were eating him like a piece of steak.” Unfortunately, Shaw’s inability to speak due to his medical condition meant he couldn’t call for help.

Neighbor’s Distress Call and Police Response

A concerned neighbor witnessed the attack and immediately dialed 911. Police arrived on the scene promptly, shooting one of the attacking dogs and injuring the other. The second dog was later euthanized by animal control.

Despite the intervention, Shaw’s health complications exacerbated the impact of the attack.

Hospitalization and Unfortunate Outcome

Emergency personnel transported Shaw to the hospital, where he underwent a series of surgeries. Michelle Shaw, another of Antonio’s siblings, revealed that her brother had to undergo 15 surgeries, including the amputation of his leg due to severe dog bites and infections. Tragically, Antonio Shaw succumbed to his injuries on December 4.

Remembering Antonio Shaw

Antonio Shaw, a father of three, was deeply cherished by his family. Sharese Jackson expressed the family’s grief, saying, “My brother Antonio was a very wonderful person, and he loves his children and he loves his family.” The family remembers him as an outstanding person who will be dearly missed.

No Charges Filed Yet

As of now, no charges have been made against the owners of the house where the tragic incident occurred. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Funeral Fundraising Effort

In an effort to provide a proper farewell to Antonio Shaw, the family has initiated a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe, aiming to raise about $3,000 for funeral expenses.
