…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Ghanaian dancehall artist, Stonebwoy, has shared his opinion on Davido’s recent statement regarding Burna Boy’s position in the music industry.
Davido had claimed that Burna Boy was among the new artistes in the industry, which sparked a backlash from Nigerians who considered it derogatory.
In a recent interview with GoldMyne TV, Stonebwoy disagreed with Davido’s assertion, stating that Burna Boy is a music legend.
He argued that the new cats in the industry should be artists like Rema and Ruger.
Stonebwoy acknowledged that Wizkid and Davido had gained significant international appeal before Burna Boy did.
However, he expressed his belief that Davido may not have intended his statement to be taken literally.
He said, “Burna Boy is not a new cat to me because Burna has been there for more than a decade.
If Davido said that, I honestly do not believe that he means that outrightly.
New cats would be Rema, Ruger them.
So, I don’t believe Davido meant that, but also if you ask me, I think Wizkid and Davido had a fair share of international appeal earlier than Burna.”
