Stellenbosch FC has made the decision not to sign Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa.
Initially, there were discussions about a season-long loan for Mthethwa, but the Cape Town-based team chose to pass on the opportunity.
Changing Plans at Kaizer Chiefs
With Njabulo Blom back at Naturena, Mthethwa has become surplus to coach Nasreddine Nabi’s requirements.
Chiefs had initially hoped to secure Blom on loan, as Nabi felt Mthethwa wouldn’t fit into his tactical plans.
Consequently, Chiefs are now looking to move Mthethwa to a different team.
Mthethwa’s Transfer Rumors
According to Idiski Times, Mthethwa was reportedly offered to his previous team, Stellenbosch, but they turned down the proposal.
There were also discussions with AmaZulu FC about a potential swap deal, but those talks didn’t lead to an agreement.
As reported by Citizen, Nabi was excited to bring back Njabulo Blom, and this new acquisition will likely impact Mthethwa’s playing time, especially with the addition of Inácio Miguel, who also plays as a defensive midfielder.
Khune’s Future with Kaizer Chiefs
In related news, Jessica Motaung, the marketing director for Kaizer Chiefs, has shared insights into Itumeleng Khune’s future.
Khune, a longstanding and celebrated figure at Chiefs, is reportedly being considered for a different role within the club.
Despite Khune’s own belief that he has more playing years left, the club is contemplating a transition for him.
Motaung mentioned that the club is exploring options for Khune, including ambassadorial roles, and is eager to find a meaningful position for him within the Kaizer Chiefs family.
What’s Next for Khune?
Motaung emphasized that they are in discussions to finalize Khune’s new role and are excited about the possibilities.
The club values his contributions highly and is working to ensure he remains an integral part of their organization.
