On Wednesday, Mamelodi Sundowns will host Stellenbosch FC at the Loftus Versveld Stadium in an effort to go back to winning ways.

Stellies and Cape Town City both drew 1-1, while the Brazilians are coming off a poor 1-1 tie against Sekhukhune United.

Given their supremacy, Sundowns are clear favorites to win this game, but they cannot afford to ignore Stellenbosch.

After all, Stellies defeated Sundowns 3-0 in the second round of the previous season after tying 1-1 in the first.

Sundowns and Stellies have faced off seven times in head-to-head competition since the Western Cape team was promoted to the DStv Premiership in 2019.

Five of the games have been won by the league’s reigning champions, who have also drawn once and lost only once.
