Contrary to what some may believe, Spyro asserted that he has been involved in the industry for a significant period, surpassing the experience of many Nigerian artists.

Through a post on his Instagram page, he shed light on his early beginnings and collaborations with notable figures.

Spyro’s Experience Predates Newcomers:

In a light-hearted manner, Spyro expressed his amusement regarding the misconception that he is a novice in the industry.


He emphasized his longevity, asserting that he has been active in the music scene long before the emergence of several popular artists.

According to Spyro’s Instagram post, he humorously remarked, “It is funny how a lot of people think I’m a new cat *lol.

I have been here way before most of your faves.”

Transition from Rap to Singing:

Spyro shared his aspirations to follow in the footsteps of the late Dagrin, a renowned Nigerian rapper, before he made the transition from rapping to singing.

To reinforce his claim of being an industry veteran, Spyro attached a clip and artwork cover of his throwback songs to the post.


He revealed that in 2010, when he was still known as “Freeze,” he collaborated with Tiwa Savage, a prominent Nigerian artist, showcasing his involvement in the music scene during that era.

Collaborations with Notable Figures:

Highlighting his journey, Spyro mentioned collaborating with the late Sound Sultan in 2014, further solidifying his experience and connections within the industry.

By recording his first collaboration with Sound Sultan in 2014, Spyro emphasized his consistent dedication to his craft.

The singer expressed his unwavering commitment to his musical pursuits, stating, “I’ve been grinding since then till God picked my call this year.”


Spyro, the Nigerian singer also known as Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, is keen to dispel the misconception that he is a newcomer in the music industry.
