Omoyele Sowore Reacts to Nigerian Navy’s Acquisition of Presidential Yacht
Sowore’s Response to Presidential Yacht Delivery
Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the Africa Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 election, has responded to the confirmation that the Nigerian Navy has received the N5 billion presidential yacht, as outlined in the 2023 supplementary budget submitted to the National Assembly.
Navy’s Confirmation and Background
Earlier reports indicated that Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, the Director of Information for the Nigerian Navy, confirmed that the yacht had been in the country since June 2023.
He explained that the request for a replacement for the defunct presidential yacht had been made during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, with the primary intention being for training purposes.
The delay in the yacht’s use was attributed to financial constraints that prevented its payment.
Sowore’s Reaction and Discrepancies
In response to these developments, Omoyele Sowore took to social media to share an interview with Borno State lawmaker Ali Ndume.
In the interview, Ndume claimed that the yacht had indeed been delivered, despite previous denials from the presidency.
Sowore pointed out the evolving narrative surrounding the presidential yacht and criticized what he sees as a series of changing stories.
He referred to those involved as “official ABAT scammers” and expressed his skepticism regarding the government’s credibility.
Conclusion:
Omoyele Sowore’s reaction highlights the ongoing controversy surrounding the acquisition of the presidential yacht and the changing narratives regarding its delivery.
This issue has raised questions and concerns among the Nigerian public and the political sphere.
Sowore’s remarks reflect his suspicion of government statements and his continued engagement with matters of public interest.
The controversy surrounding the presidential yacht underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in government dealings.
