The South African Police Service (SAPS) has released the crime statistics for the fourth quarter of the 2022/2023 financial year.

Inanda police station in KwaZulu-Natal has reported the highest number of rape cases during the fourth quarter.
However, there has been a decrease in the total number of reported cases from 98 to 82 when compared to the same quarter in 2022.
KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo Witness Increase in Reported Rape Cases:
KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo are the only provinces that have experienced an increase in reported rape cases.
In KwaZulu-Natal, stations like Inanda, Umlazi, Empangeni, and Kwa Nongoma are particularly grappling with such incidents.
Decrease in Reported Rape Cases Nationwide:
Overall, the current statistics indicate a 2.8% decrease in reported rape cases across South Africa compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.
The total number of reported cases stands at 10,512.
Gauteng recorded the highest number of reported cases with 2,168, followed by KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, and the Western Cape.
