South African Man to appear in court for murder of friend

It is alleged that on 13 November 2019 just after midnight, Cebo Mkhize (30) was shot by a known suspect while he was on Sydney Road at Dalton Men’s Hostel.

The victim was taken to hospital where he demised due to his injuries. A case of murder was opened for investigation by Umbilo SAPS. The preliminary investigation conducted by police revealed that the deceased was fatally shot by his friend due to unknown reasons. Umbilo Detectives received information about the suspect involved in the murder of Mkhize.

The team worked tirelessly tracing the suspect and following all possible leads. The investigation led them to Hluhluwe where the 31-year-old suspect was arrested with the assistance of the local detectives.

He was arrested on Thursday, 7 April 2022 while he was appearing in court for a business robbery case that was committed in Hluhluwe during February 2022. The suspect will be profiled to check if he is linked to other serious and violent cases reported in Durban and surrounding areas.

He is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
