Challenges in Information Dissemination

Charles Odii, the Director General of SMEDAN, has raised concerns about the insufficient spread of information regarding government intervention programs.

This lack of awareness has been a barrier for small enterprises in accessing much-needed funds.

During the signing ceremony with Sterling Bank, Odii highlighted the issue, citing an example where nearly N500 million remained unutilized with only six beneficiaries in one bank due to poor information distribution.

SMEDAN’s Loan Portfolio for SMEs

In response to the information dissemination challenge, SMEDAN has secured a N5 billion loan portfolio.

The objective is to support over 10,000 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across Nigeria.

The collaboration with Sterling Bank is designed to provide loans ranging from N250,000 to N2.5 million at a single-digit interest rate.

Application Process and Criteria

Businesses that meet specific criteria are eligible to apply for funds between #250,000 to #2,500,000.

Successful repayment of these loans qualifies Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for higher sums, facilitating business growth or expansion.
