Horror enthusiasts have recently been treated to a slew of terrifying creatures on the big screen.
From the notorious Cocaine Bear, a story of a bear consuming drugs and going on a rampage, to the disturbing portrayal of Winnie The Pooh as an axe-wielding killer, and even Idris Elba’s Beast, where a vengeful lion takes on mankind.
Not to mention Wreck, a BBC horror-comedy featuring a killer duck.
However, nothing could have prepared audiences for the latest chilling transformation – the sloth, one of the slowest mammals on earth, now turned into a psychotic killer in the upcoming film, Slotherhouse.
The recently released trailer introduces a group of young women living in what seems to be a sorority house, slowly being hunted down one by one by the sloth.
This seemingly innocent creature had been taken in by one of the girls, who mistakenly believed it was harmless and cute.
The trailer serves as a warning, as the sloth’s sinister actions unfold, including hiding in a shower and lunging at one of the girls while clutching her pink sponge.
In another scene, the sloth deviously camouflages among the soft toys belonging to the girls.
Viewers have been both amused and intrigued by this unexpected twist, with some finding the concept of a killer sloth hilariously intriguing.
Others suggested humorously that the sloth should drag its victims away very slowly.
The internet has been buzzing with reactions to the one-minute clip, with many finding the title “Slotherhouse” to be quite clever and entertaining.
The film is directed by Matthew Goodhue, known for his work on horror-mystery Woe (2021) and the horror short Dames (2018).
The screenplay is written by Bradley Fowler, who has previously worked on films like Novel Love (2022) and The Voices (2020).
The cast includes Lisa Ambalavanar (known for Titans), Sydney Craven (from EastEnders), Olivia Rouyre (featured in American Horror Stories), Bianca Beckles-Rose (known for You Should Know Better), and Andrew Horton (recognized for his role in Jupiter’s Legacy).
As of now, the UK release date for Slotherhouse is yet to be announced, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the sinister adventures of this unexpected killer sloth.
