Siya Kolisi, the captain of the. Springboks, seems to have made a statement about his relationship status as he welcomed the new year.

This came with a noticeable update to his Instagram profile, which now hints at a fresh chapter in his personal life, but without his estranged wife, Rachel, by his side.

The End of an Era

After eight years of marriage and two children together, Siya and Rachel announced their separation in October last year.

Since the announcement, there had been whispers that they might be considering reconciliation, especially after some of Siya’s Instagram posts hinted at this possibility.

However, things took a different turn on January 1st, when Siya made a subtle but significant change.

He removed his profile picture featuring his wife, Rachel, and erased the word “husband” from his Instagram bio.

To further underscore this shift, Siya replaced the image with a solo shot of himself as the Springboks captain and updated his bio to read “Father, Brother.”

She removed the title “wife” from her bio and also decided to take Siya out of her 2024 Instagram highlights, sharing a TikTok video where she made it clear that the relationship was no longer in the spotlight.

Though both Siya and Rachel continue to follow each other on Instagram, there has been no interaction in the

form of likes or comments on each other’s posts, further suggesting a more distant relationship.

A Separate Holiday Season

This year’s holiday season saw Rachel and Siya spending Christmas apart for the first time.

Rachel stayed in Cape Town with their two children, spending time with Siya’s siblings, Liyema and Liphelo.

Meanwhile, Siya took some time to himself and enjoyed a family trip to Zimbabwe, also without Rachel.
