Simon Cowell Returns to Music Industry by Launching Boyband December 10 on Netflix Series The Next Act in London

Simon Cowell is diving back into the boyband world with his latest venture, December 10, formed through his new Netflix series, The Next Act.

Three decades after launching Robson & Jerome and later shaping Pop Idol, The X Factor, and Britain’s Got Talent, Cowell is giving the boyband formula another go with a seven-piece group of talented young performers.

Reflections on a Career Without Regrets

During an appearance on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast with Richard Osman and Marina Hyde, Cowell was asked about his biggest career regrets.

Rather than dwell on past mistakes, he focused on the importance of family, crediting his 11-year-old son Eric as the ultimate life-changing event.

“Eric was conceived on a certain day at a certain time… you can’t really complain too much about your regrets,” Cowell said, emphasizing that personal milestones outweigh any professional missteps.

He did hint at challenges in the industry, particularly trusting the wrong people.

“I’ve had experiences where people who you trusted completely let you down,” he admitted.

Yet even these setbacks seem minor in comparison to his love for his family, especially fiancée Lauren and their son Eric. “From the minute I saw his scan, I just fell in love.

It was like a game changer. Everything in my life changed,” he reflected.

Introducing December 10

The new boyband December 10 made a splash with their first full performance, an acoustic rendition of NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye, at London’s Metropolis Studios.

The seven members—Cruz, Danny, Hendrick, John, Josh, Nicolas, and Sean—play their own instruments and brought a fresh energy that delighted fans, even as critics dismissed the show itself.

Social media erupted with praise: “The vocals are king,” “I’m in love with them,” and “JAW IS ON THE FLOOR,” read just a few of the glowing comments.

Netflix Series Faces Harsh Criticism

While fans were excited, The Next Act has faced harsh reviews.

Some critics branded the series a “rehash of the X Factor for the billionth time,” calling it “dated, derivative and as flat as his hairdo.”

Despite this, Cowell continues to prove his knack for spotting talent and cultivating pop sensations, a legacy that includes One Direction, Little Mix, Susan Boyle, and Westlife.

Cowell’s Enduring Influence

Even at 66, Cowell is still shaping the music industry with new talent and high-stakes reality TV.

The Next Act may have received mixed critical reception, but fans’ enthusiasm for December 10 shows that the allure of a Cowell-crafted boyband remains strong.

In his own words, family matters most, but the thrill of discovering and nurturing talent is clearly far from over.

Looking Ahead

December 10 represents Cowell’s latest attempt to bridge traditional pop formulas with contemporary tastes, combining live instrument performances with the charisma of seven young stars.

Whether critics embrace or dismiss it, the group is off to a promising start, and Cowell’s eye for star potential remains as sharp as ever.
