Sharjah Women’s Sports Club scoops up 17 medals at Specialist Ladies Athletics Games
SHARJAH, 11th January, 2022 – Sharjah Women’s Sports Club has won 17 medals in the 2nd Specialist Ladies Athletics Games, bagging 12 golds, four silvers and one bronze.
The Games, organised by the Athletics Federation as part of the current sports season events, were held at the Dubai Police Officers’ Club and Al Nasr Club playgrounds.
The superb participation of the club in the 2nd edition of the Games culminated in a new record by the promising Wedaad Ibrahim in the hammer throw.
She threw a distance of 45.
10m, eclipsing the national record of 44.
Medals won span all contests of the Specialist Athletics Championship.
Aliaa Abdul Aleem won the gold medal in the 600-metre race for young ladies, while Ameera Abdul Aleem won the gold medal for 1000-metre in the same category.
Mahra Abdul Rahim and Fatima Al Balushi also won the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the women’s 800-metre competition, while Ingrid Felisa won the gold medal in the 800 metres for young ladies.
In the women’s 1,500-metre competition, Chloe Tigi won the gold medal, Marwa Al-Amoudi won the bronze medal.
Athba Al Yamahi won the gold medal in the 1,500-metre youth competition.
In the hammer throw competition, over and above Wedaad Ibrahim’s new national record, Mira Al-Suwaidi won the silver medal.
Jawaher Al Mazmi won the gold in the women’s javelin throw, and Wedad Ibrahim won the silver medal.
Fatima Al Hosani also won the gold medal in the discus throw for women category, and Nour Mubarak won the gold in the same competition for the young women category.
Fatima Al Hosani also won the gold medal in the women’s shot put, and Jawaher Al Mazmi won the silver medal in the same competition.
Nour Mubarak replicated the gold achievement, adding another gold with the shotput in the young women’s category.
