Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of Iraqi Council of Representatives discuss relations

CAIRO, 18th February, 2022 – Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), and Mohamed Al Halbousi, Speaker of Iraqi Council of Representatives, discussed ways of reinforcing their overall cooperation, most notably their parliamentary cooperation.

Their meeting took place on the sidelines of the 32nd conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Cairo, under the title, “Arab Solidarity.

At the start of the meeting, Ghobash welcomed Al Halbousi and commended his participation in the event, lauding the deep-rooted historic ties between the two countries.

They also discussed several issues of mutual concern, including ways of reinforcing their parliamentary diplomacy and coordinating their stances while participating in international parliamentary events.

Al Halbousi thanked Ghobash for the warm welcome and the successful hosting of the event, highlighting Iraq’s keenness to enhance its bilateral ties with the UAE.

He also reiterated his condemnation of the Houthi attacks against civilian facilities in the UAE, stressing his full support for the country.
