Coronation Street Stars Face Weather Woes During Filming

Terrible Weather Halts Filming on Coronation Street

Filming on the beloved ITV soap, Coronation Street, was reportedly brought to a standstill due to the inclement weather that has recently hit the UK.

Despite the sunny days making way for rain, it appears that Weatherfield, the fictional town in the soap, couldn’t escape the downpour.

Cast Forced to Take Cover

Samia Longchambon, a cast member of Coronation Street, took to Instagram this week to reveal the impact of the rain on their shooting schedule.

She posted a video on her Instagram account, showing her strolling along the street with a somewhat rueful expression, bundled up in a cozy coat to ward off the cold.

Rainy Scenes on the Cobbles

As Samia walked, the usually bustling cobbles behind her were nearly empty, as it seemed everyone had sought refuge indoors to escape the torrential rain.

She humorously captioned her post, “Rained off on the cobbles this morning… great start to a Monday,” while holding a large umbrella overhead to shield herself from the downpour.

Emojis of a rain cloud and a camera accompanied her post.

Weather Woes in Salford, Manchester

Notably, the Coronation Street set is situated in Salford, Manchester, and reports suggest that the area experienced storms and heavy rain on that particular Monday, causing the disruption in filming.

Samia’s Career and Qualifications

Samia Longchambon, aged 41, is a versatile actress who has appeared in various TV shows such as Adam’s Family Tree and Heartbeat.

She has also ventured into the realm of reality television with appearances on Dancing On Ice.

However, her most prominent role is that of Maria Connor in Coronation Street, a character she has portrayed since 2000.

While she hasn’t indicated any intention of leaving the soap, Samia mentioned in a previous interview with The Sun that she has a backup career as a qualified reflexologist, saying, “If everything goes pear-shaped, I can always pick that up again.”
