Sam Thompson Reveals How He Prepared for His Chaotic Schedule on I’m A Celebrity Unpacked in Australia by Visiting the Doctor for Sleeping Pills

Before flying out to Australia for his new role on I’m A Celebrity Unpacked, Sam Thompson took an important step to ensure he could handle the hectic schedule that awaited him.

The 32-year-old, who became a fan favorite and was crowned King of the Jungle on last year’s I’m A Celebrity, didn’t just pack his bags.

He made a quick stop at the doctor’s office to pick up a prescription for sleeping pills.

A Chaotic Schedule in Australia

Sam, along with co-hosts Joel Dommett and Kemi Rogers, will be presenting I’m A Celebrity Unpacked, a spin-off show that’s broadcast in the UK.

That means their filming schedule will follow UK time, even though they’re in Australia.

For Sam, this means a completely upside-down routine.

He’ll be heading to bed at 4 PM Australian time and waking up at midnight to start work.

On his podcast, Staying Relevant with Pete Wicks, Sam shared how he plans to cope with the bizarre hours.

“The timings are quite awkward because we are live in UK time,” he explained.

“So we go to bed at 4 PM every day in Australia and wake up at midnight. Which is going to be wild.”

A Quick Visit to the Doctor

In an effort to prepare for this crazy schedule, Sam didn’t waste any time.

“I’ve just been to the doctor and I’ve got 24 sleeping pills,” Sam told Pete.

Pete, who knows Sam well, was quick to point out that as soon as Sam secured the gig, he headed straight to the doctor.

“That was the first thing you did,” Pete remarked.

“He literally came out of the meeting with ITV and went straight to the doctor and said, ‘I need pills.'”

New Adventures Down Under

Sam’s excitement for the show is palpable, but he’s also looking forward to spending time with his fellow presenters.

“I’m just going to be trying to get to know Joel as best as I can while I’m out here so that he becomes my brother,” Sam said.

He’s also hoping to meet up with Ant and Dec, expressing his desire to “track down Ant and Dec, see where they’re staying, and see if I can hang out with them.”

While Sam’s work schedule may be wild, he’s also looking forward to making lasting friendships in Australia, possibly even with some I’m A Celebrity legends.

A Visit from Pete Wicks?

Back home, Sam’s friend Pete Wicks is dealing with his own stressful schedule on Strictly Come Dancing.

Sam revealed that if Pete gets eliminated, he may make the trip to Australia to visit him.

Pete, who’s known to be close to Sam, might also take the opportunity to support his girlfriend, Maura Higgins, who’s rumored to be heading into the Jungle soon.

“If Pete gets booted out of Strictly, he might come out and see me!” Sam said, laughing.

“We’ll get to have another bridge reunion.”

Love, Friendship, and More in the Spotlight

Sam also mentioned that he’d miss his girlfriend while juggling his busy schedule.

“Probably Zara because Pete is so stressed with Strictly!” he joked.

Pete, who has been rumored to be romantically linked to his Strictly partner Jowita Przystal, was recently spotted kissing Maura Higgins, confirming their relationship.

As for what comes next, it looks like Sam’s journey in Australia will be full of surprises—both on and off the screen!
