Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has confirmed that both Noussair Mazraoui and Victor Lindelof are expected to be available for the upcoming Premier League clash against Wolves on Sunday.
The two players had to leave Old Trafford at halftime during Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final against Lyon due to urgent family matters.
Family Matters Lead to Early Departures
Mazraoui played the first half of the second leg against Lyon, with United leading 2-0.
However, he had to leave the stadium at halftime, and Luke Shaw came on as his replacement.
Lindelof, on the other hand, was on the bench for what turned out to be an incredible match, finishing 5-4 in United’s favor.
It’s understood that both players needed to address personal family issues, though these issues were not connected.
Despite the sudden exits, Amorim reassured fans that the situation had been resolved, and both players are now in a good position to feature in Sunday’s game against Wolves at Old Trafford.
Amorim Provides Positive Update on Mazraoui and Lindelof
Speaking to the press, Amorim explained that sometimes, unforeseen circumstances arise during matches that are out of the team’s control.
He emphasized the importance of prioritizing personal matters over football.
“Everything happened this season, but everything is okay now,” he said.
He went on to confirm, “Both players are available.
Lindelof has personal issues, just like Noussair, but they’ve been resolved. They’re ready to go for the next game.”
Amorim’s approach highlights the human side of football, where personal lives sometimes take precedence over the game itself, and it seems the situation is now sorted out.
Giving Youth a Chance in the Remaining Premier League Games
Looking ahead to the remaining six Premier League matches, Amorim is considering giving some of the younger players an opportunity.
With the Europa League semi-finals against Bilbao approaching in May, Amorim wants to ensure his key players are fit and ready, so he may rotate the squad, resting some of his regular starters.
He mentioned players like Diogo Dalot, who are always prepared but may need rest due to fatigue.
Amorim also expressed concern for those recovering from injuries, saying, “The guys that are recent to have an injury, we will try to save them. We will see tomorrow.”
Taking Risks with the Youth
Amorim acknowledged that it’s not the ideal time to give young players too much responsibility, given the team’s current circumstances.
However, he also hinted that this might be necessary, especially as the team looks to balance the demands of league and European competitions.
“We need a strong base for the kids to really show what they can do, but if we have to do it, we will,” Amorim explained.
He also noted that some young players, like Ayden Heaven and Harry Amass, have impressed recently and could be given the chance to play.
“It’s a difficult moment, but if we have to rely on the kids, we will.
Sometimes there are surprises, and they may step up when least expected,” he added.
As United continues its pursuit of success on both domestic and European fronts, these unexpected opportunities for youth players could prove pivotal in the final stretch of the season.
