Just weeks away from his much-anticipated Glastonbury appearance, Sir Rod Stewart made a rare public outing in Beverly Hills — and it was his first since a wave of health troubles led him to cancel several shows.
The 80-year-old rock legend was spotted heading to the upscale Japanese restaurant Matsuhisa, joined by two familiar faces: his daughter Kimberly, 45, and his son Sean, 44.
Despite still recovering from the flu, Rod put on a cheerful front, smiling for cameras in a stylish black velvet jacket with gold trim, paired with jeans and a crisp white shirt.
He topped off the look with dark shades and a quirky necklace, arriving in true rockstar style via a chauffeur-driven car.
Kimberly’s Baby Bump and Sean’s Laid-Back Support
Kimberly, who is currently expecting her second child, showed off her baby bump in a sleek black mini dress, throwing on a smart blazer and boots for the dinner outing.
While she hasn’t disclosed the identity of the father, Kimberly already has a 13-year-old daughter, Delilah, with actor Benicio Del Toro.
Sean, meanwhile, kept things simple and relaxed in a white T-shirt as the siblings rallied around their father, who’s been navigating a tough patch health-wise.
Rod’s Family Tree: Eight Kids, Five Mothers
Rod Stewart is famously the father of eight children, born to five different women.
His daughters include Sarah (61), Kimberly (45), Ruby (37), and Renée (33), while his sons are Sean (44), Liam (30), Alastair (19), and Aiden (14).
His youngest two are with his current wife, Penny Lancaster.
The Cancelled Shows and Health Update
Earlier this week, Rod took to Instagram to announce the cancellation of six upcoming U.S. concerts, a tough decision that came after he had already pulled out of two Las Vegas shows due to his doctor’s orders.
In a heartfelt message, he shared:
“I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu.
So sorry, my friends. I’m devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.
I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.”
Among the affected shows were gigs in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada, along with two California dates that he hopes to reschedule.
On Vocal Rest and Back to the Stage
Rod had been scheduled to perform at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on June 5 but had to cancel just a day before, explaining:
“My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu.
Thanks for your love and understanding.”
He also rescheduled a previous Vegas show for June 10, expressing regret but optimism as he continues to heal.
Just last month, fans saw him wear a sign around his neck post-show in Milan reading, “Sorry. Cannot talk.
Having vocal rest,” while he was on strict vocal silence.
Still, he managed to bounce back shortly after and return to the stage at the MEO Arena in Lisbon on May 13.
Nearing the End of Big Tours – But Not Retirement
Though Rod is powering through his “One Last Time” tour, he’s made it clear that this will likely be his final run of large-scale world tours.
That said, don’t expect him to slow down completely.
In a spirited Instagram post, he said:
“This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire.
I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
He hinted at a new project in the works — possibly a “Great American Songbook, Swing Fever” tour in more intimate venues.
Faces Reunion at Glastonbury?
On top of his own solo performance, Rod’s Glastonbury appearance may come with a surprise twist — a mini Faces reunion.
Rod revealed on The Peter Crouch Podcast that he’s planning to perform with Ronnie Wood, his longtime friend and bandmate from the 1970s rock group.
When asked if he’s still in touch with his fellow music legends like Sir Elton John or the Rolling Stones, Rod joked:
“Not really, but Woody and I do a lot just recently because we are going to do Glastonbury together.”
He added playfully that Ronnie and Elton tend to avoid him now that they’ve “quit booze.”
As for Faces drummer Kenney Jones, Rod didn’t confirm whether he’d be joining them, but he did say he recently reunited with both Jones and Wood to work on a documentary and possibly a new album to mark the band’s milestone anniversary.
A Friendship That’s Stood the Test of Time
Rod and Ronnie go way back — all the way to 1969, when they both joined Faces.
The band split in 1975, but their friendship endured, with Rod even serving as Ronnie’s best man in 2012.
Now, with Glastonbury on the horizon and a potential reunion in the works, fans have plenty to look forward to from the ever-charismatic Sir Rod Stewart — who proves that even at 80, the show must go on.
