A tragic road rage incident in Antipolo City resulted in one death and two injuries, following a heated argument that escalated to violence.
The incident occurred on March 30, 2025, in the late afternoon along Marcos Highway, in front of Café Sinauna in Sitio Calumpang, Barangay San Jose.
Suspect Opens Fire During Altercation
The confrontation began around 5:00 PM when a disagreement between the suspect, Kenneth Alajar Bautista, and the victims quickly turned violent.
Bautista, a 28-year-old businessman, allegedly drew a firearm and opened fire on the three individuals.
In the chaos, Davis Menor Reducto, a 29-year-old man, was shot in the chest while trying to intervene in the altercation.
Another victim, identified as “Patrick,” a 22-year-old college student, was shot in the right arm, and the third victim, “Peter,” a 52-year-old businessman, suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
Victims Rushed to the Hospital
All three victims were immediately rushed to Cabading Hospital for emergency treatment.
Tragically, Davis Menor Reducto did not survive the shooting, adding another heartbreaking loss to the list of road rage incidents that have turned deadly in the area.
Police Apprehend Suspect After High-Speed Chase
The suspect attempted to flee the scene in his black Toyota Fortuner, but Antipolo PNP launched an immediate hot pursuit.
The police officers, working with nearby units under OPLAN COBWEB, successfully intercepted Bautista at the Border Checkpoint in Masinag, Barangay Mayamot, stopping him before he could cause further harm.
Authorities Confirm Ongoing Investigation
PLTCOL Ryan Lopez Manongdo, Acting Chief of Police in Antipolo, commended the swift actions of the officers involved in apprehending the suspect.
He assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and called for anyone with information to come forward.
“We urge witnesses or anyone with additional information to aid in this case,” said Manongdo.
The suspect is now in police custody, and charges are being prepared as the investigation continues.
The community remains on edge as authorities work to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
