Downing Street declared that Rishi Sunak is a “Swiftie” during the Prime Minister’s trip to the US, which apparently featured a Taylor Swift concert.
According to reports, Mr. Sunak participated in a cycling class set to Taylor Swift’s music as well as a concert in Los Angeles.
Downing Street did not dispute these claims.
When asked if Mr. Sunak was a “Swiftie,” as the star’s admirers are known, the official spokesman for the prime minister responded, “I’m not going to steer you away from it.”
Tickets for Swift’s Eras tour are as valuable as gold to fans, yet according to reports from the US, Mr. Sunak attended one of the sold-out Los Angeles concerts while visiting California.
The Prime Minister’s spokeswoman refused to comment on what the PM did while taking a break when asked if the reports were accurate.
“I believe that upholding that principle is important.”
Earlier in his vacation, a different SoulCycle member reported seeing Mr. Sunak at the indoor cycling class with a Taylor Swift theme.
In a video she released on TikTok, Hannah Harmelin claimed to have seen the Prime Minister in Santa Monica after a 7 a.m. lesson.
Mr. Sunak is well known for favoring cycling lessons as a means of staying fit.
He recently traveled to California with his wife Akshata Murty and two small kids, Krishna and Anoushka.
After a vacation in California, where he and his wife have an apartment, he is now back at work.
Liz Truss, the former prime minister, is also a fan of the singer and has been pictured with her in the past.
During the occasionally tense 2022 Tory leadership race, Mr. Sunak stated: “I agree with Liz on far more than we disagree on – and I don’t just mean our shared love for Whitney Houston and Taylor Swift.”
