SAD: Alot of tributes as Dale College experiences second pupil’s death

Another 1st XV player died over the weekend after sustaining a head injury during a competition, making it the second time in a week that tragedy has struck Dale College Boys’ High School.

Liyabona ‘Sturge’ Teyise died on Saturday night after suffering a head injury in an away match against Port Rex Technical High School in East London, according to Dale College in the Eastern Cape.

He was only 18 years old at the time.

Teyise walked off the field, but then had a fit and looked to have breathing problems before collapsing, according to the school’s Facebook page.

He was transported to the Frere Provincial Hospital, where an emergency CT scan revealed significant cerebral bleeding.

During the procedure, he was declared dead.

Second Dale College pupil to die in days

Teyise’s death comes after the discovery of 17-year-old Dale College student Lisakhanya ‘Carter’ Lwana’s body on the R63 between Qonce and Masingata after she went missing last weekend.

Lwana was a first-team rugby player as well.

He suffered multiple injuries, according to police, and they believe he was the victim of a hit-and-run collision.

Teyise’s classmates and classmates from other schools have sent their heartfelt sympathies to both families.

“On behalf of the Stellenberg Rugby Committee, we express our sorrow to Dale College for their loss. We send our condolences to the family and friends. May God assist you and provide you with strength during this trying time. “We’re here for you,” Stellenberg High School rugby captain Aden Miller stated.

Selborne College, Queens College Old Boys’ Association, UXI Sport, and Westville Boys’ High School have all expressed their sympathies to the family of Teyise and Lwana.
