Richards Bay FC Chairman Biyela Confirms New Sponsorship Deal Announcement Set for Next Week Amidst Venue Uncertainty in Durban

Richards Bay FC boss Menziwa ‘Jomo’ Biyela recently addressed the club’s latest developments, including potential new sponsors and updates on their home venue for the upcoming season.

Following speculation during the PSL promotional/relegation Playoffs about Natal Rich Boyz potentially selling their club status, Richards Bay FC has secured their spot in the top flight, signaling stability as they prepare for the 2024/25 season.

The club has finalized several player acquisitions, soon to be officially announced, bolstering their squad for the challenges ahead.

New Sponsorship Announcement Imminent

In an interview on Prime Time Sports with Victor Molefe on UKhozi FM, Biyela revealed plans to unveil a new sponsor next week.

This partnership is slated to last three years, bringing much-needed financial support to the club.

Venue Challenges and Anticipations

Since their promotion to the DStv Premiership, Richards Bay has been unable to host home games at uMhlathuze Sports Complex due to ongoing renovations.

Instead, they’ve played all home matches at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi.

Future Home Ground Considerations

When asked about the possibility of returning to Richards Bay, Biyela indicated uncertainty, suggesting they might continue playing in Durban for the upcoming season.

“I don’t want to mislead people,” Biyela explained.

“Perhaps uMhlathuze Municipality can provide more clarity on that. As it stands, I foresee us returning to Umlazi this season.”

These developments highlight Richards Bay FC’s proactive steps amidst sponsorship anticipation and venue challenges ahead of the new season.
