This is the moment an 81-year-old woman was thrown to the ground while trying to stop her car from being stolen after she stepped away from it to feed the homeless.
Police are on the lookout for the carjacking suspect who stole the woman’s car keys in a Redlands grocery store parking lot.
The woman is seen taking food out from the trunk of her 2015 silver Kia Sportage with some helpers.
The man, wearing dark jeans and a black T-shirt with short black hair and an Aztec tattoo on his hand, makes his way toward the car door after taking the car keys.
Closing it quickly, he jams the keys in the lock while the alarmed woman comes around to pull the door open.
She starts wrestling with the handle, but he grabs hold of the car door on the other side and pulls it shut.
He holds it tight while driving away, dragging her with him and knocking her off balance.
The elderly woman is thrown to the concrete floor while the thief reverses, turning to drive off.
Others around the woman, realizing what is happening, rush at the car to try and stop the driver, but he is already moving too fast.
The carjacker hits down on the accelerator with the truck still open, leaving a bag spilling out of the trunk behind him as he speeds out of the parking lot.
Redlands Police Department said the carjacking happened in the parking lot of the Stater Bros Market, 11 E. Colton Ave on May 23.
The stolen car was last seen headed west on the 10 Freeway from Orange Street in Redlands, the authorities said.
