Ramaphosa urges NUM to help ANC restore to its former glory

President Cyril Ramaphosa has stated that the governing party is counting on the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) to assist in restoring the African National Congress (ANC) to its former grandeur.

He was addressing at the 17th National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) national convention in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg.

Former NUM General Secretary and former President Kgalema Motlanthe, as well as Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) General Secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali, also attended the occasion.

President Ramaphosa who is NUM’s founding General Secretary says he wants Cosatu and its unions to participate in the running of the ANC to help with its renewal.

The video below is reporting on the NUM’s national congress:

Ramaphosa told NUM members that the ANC’s step aside rule must now be a culture that is applied across all tripartite-alliance structures and all Cosatu’s affiliated unions.
