The Ministry of Small Business Development has issued a strong warning concerning the emergence of counterfeit Facebook accounts impersonating Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams.

These fraudulent accounts aim to deceive and scam unsuspecting citizens, particularly small business owners.

Condemnation of Fraudulent Activity

The Ministry strongly condemned the deceitful use of the Minister’s name, profile, and images for fraudulent purposes. The created fake accounts are solely intended to defraud and dupe innocent citizens seeking business opportunities.

Cautionary Advisory

In a statement, the Ministry emphasized that neither Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams nor the department will ever request any form of “upfront fees” from the public in exchange for accessing funding or business prospects.

They have identified over 25 fake accounts impersonating the Minister and emphasized that the only legitimate Facebook account is .

Call for Reporting

Individuals who have fallen victim to these fraudulent activities are urged to report the matter to the authorities immediately.

The Ministry has reported these fake accounts to Facebook.

SIU Head Impersonation Alert

In a separate development, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has received reports of individuals falsely claiming to be Advocate Andy Mothibi or his representatives. These imposters allegedly seek monetary gains from public representatives and members of the judiciary, prompting the SIU to issue a public warning.

Advice from SIU

The SIU, through its spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago, urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious. They affirmed that the SIU never solicits money from subjects of investigations or those associated with their work.

The public is advised to verify information and avoid falling victim to these impersonators.
