…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. A private mercenary force in Russia, known as the Wagner Group, has made a bold declaration to wage war against the Russian military and overthrow the nation’s military leaders.
According to Naija News, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, made this announcement on Saturday, following an alleged attack on one of their camps by the Russian army, resulting in the deaths of numerous Wagner fighters.
Revenge and the End of Military Leadership
Yevgeny Prigozhin vowed that the Wagner Group, which has been operating alongside the Russian army in Ukraine, will seek revenge against Russia and put an end to the perceived malevolent influence brought about by the country’s military leadership.
Prigozhin claimed that his fighters had crossed the border from Ukraine into Russia and were prepared to eliminate anyone obstructing their path, including roadblocks and aircraft.
Punishment and Chaos in the Country
Expressing his determination, Prigozhin stated that those responsible for the destruction of their comrades and the loss of countless Russian soldiers’ lives would face punishment.
He called for non-resistance and invited others to join their cause, aiming to address the current chaos prevalent in the country.
Prigozhin warned that anyone who resisted their mission would be considered a threat and swiftly destroyed, including checkpoints and any aircraft flying overhead.
Accusations and Denials
Prigozhin accused Russia’s military of fabricating stories regarding the invasion of Ukraine, alleging that the country was experiencing setbacks on the battlefield.
He claimed that the war could have been avoided if Russia had engaged in negotiations with the Ukrainian President.
However, Russia’s Ministry of Defence swiftly denied Prigozhin’s claims, dismissing them as an “informational provocation” while reinforcing security measures in Moscow.
Legal Action and Kremlin’s Response
As the situation unfolded, a criminal case was opened against Yevgeny Prigozhin by the federal security service, as reported by Russian state news agency Tass.
Meanwhile, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, confirmed that President Putin was aware of the situation, indicating the seriousness of the matter.
