President Tinubu Attends 63rd Anniversary of Benin Republic with High-Level Delegation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Cotonou to participate in the celebration of the 63rd anniversary of the Republic of Benin.

The Nigerian leader and his delegation departed Nigeria on Tuesday morning and were warmly welcomed by Benin Republic President, Patrice Talon, and other key government officials.

High-Level Delegation:

Accompanying President Tinubu on this one-day visit were some of his political aides and a group of six governors: Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq (Kwara), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), and Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger).

Prior Meetings and Diplomatic Engagements:

The meeting in Cotonou marks the continuation of engagements between President Tinubu and President Talon.

Earlier, they had first met on the sidelines of the summit on the New Global Financing Pact in Paris, France.

Furthermore, the two leaders crossed paths again during the 63rd Ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, held in Guinea-Bissau.

More recently, they met in Abuja to discuss political developments in Niger Republic.

During this meeting, President Talon extended an invitation to President Tinubu to serve as the Special Guest of Honour for the Republic of Benin’s 63rd-anniversary celebration.
