There is an update on a tragic incident involving the murder of a 24-year-old daughter of a Borno House of Assembly member who represented Ngala local government area.
According to the Borno State Police Command, they have made significant progress in the case, with the arrest of two suspects, Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim of Dikechiri and Bukar Wadiya of Dikechiri, in connection with the killing.
The victim, before her untimely death, was the wife of Ibrahim, who is identified as the first suspect.
Earlier reports had indicated that the deceased was strangled by unknown assailants near Gidan Dembe in Maiduguri.
The deceased was laid to rest following Islamic rites.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Sani Shatambaya, issued a statement providing key details on the case.
It was on October 18, 2023, at approximately 6:00 PM that Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim, accompanied by Bukar Wadiya, arrived at the Gwange Division of the police.
They were transporting the body of a woman, later identified as Fatima Alhaji Bukar, and claimed that she was Ibrahim’s wife.
The husband explained that he had returned from work around 5:00 PM and discovered his wife lying in a pool of blood.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had been embroiled in domestic disputes, particularly related to an alleged extramarital affair by the husband at their matrimonial home.
The police secured the house in Dikechiri Bayan Gidan Dambe Area in Maiduguri where the incident occurred and found several items, including a short pestle, a bag rope, a rug carpet stained with blood, a knife, and a Honda vehicle with specific registration details.
Notably, there was no evidence of forced entry into the house, and only the husband had the key to access it from outside.
As a result, both the husband and Bukar Wadiya were arrested as prime suspects, and discreet investigations are underway for thorough prosecution.
