Police Arrest Suspect in Axe Assault at SODO Encampment

Police arrested a man in SODO early this morning after he used an axe, pole, and piece of wood to attack another man in an encampment.

Around 3:30 AM, police received a report of an assault near the 1900 block of 4th Avenue South.

Police soon found the victim, who was bleeding from his head and face.

After speaking with the victim and witnesses, officers learned the suspect had barged into the victim’s tent and, a short time later, attacked him with an axe, pole, and a board.

The victim ran to a nearby gas station, where a bystander called 911.

Officers found the suspect nearby and took him into custody before booking him into the King County Jail for assault.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center by private ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
