Sometimes, justice takes its time — but when it arrives, it makes headlines.
In a major breakthrough for law enforcement in Limpopo, police have finally tracked down and arrested one of the province’s most wanted criminals, a 31-year-old man linked to a string of violent crimes including ATM bombings and armed robberies.
Caught in the Heart of Giyani
The dramatic arrest unfolded right in the Giyani Central Business District.
It wasn’t a random stroke of luck — this was the result of a carefully planned, intelligence-driven operation.
Members of the Mopani District Tracking Team, working closely with Public Order Police (POPS) in Giyani, had been monitoring the suspect’s movements and waiting for the right moment to act.
Their patience paid off.
A Long List of Serious Charges
This isn’t just a case of petty theft.
The man now in custody faces multiple serious charges, including:
-
Robbery with aggravated circumstances
-
Malicious damage to property — specifically linked to ATM bombings
Some of the cases against him stretch back to March 2023, including incidents in the Seshego Policing Area, which were particularly destructive and violent.
A Multi-Unit Effort with Major Impact
After his arrest, the suspect was taken to the Giyani SAPS station for processing.
From there, his case has now been handed over to the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, which will lead the deeper investigation and build the case for court.
Police leadership is hailing the arrest as a major win.
“This is a huge step forward in our ongoing battle against organised crime — especially the wave of ATM bombings that have rocked communities and drained millions from our economy,” said Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
She added that the arrest proves how crucial intelligence-led policing and specialised units are when it comes to cracking down on serious criminal networks.
More Than Just One Arrest — It’s a Message
This arrest sends a clear signal — no matter how long it takes, police are watching and building their cases.
For communities tired of being terrorised and banks suffering repeated losses, it’s a rare moment of reassurance.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon, and more developments may follow as investigations continue.

Only time — and continued results — will tell.
