Kaizer Chiefs opened their world-class facilities at their Naturena village to Pitso Mosimane Al Ahly this week as the Egyptian club prepared for Saturday’s crucial CAF Champions League clash that will take place at Amakhosi’s FNB Stadium.Kick-off is set for 15:00.
Al Ahly will head into Saturday’s match in second place in the Group A standings, level on four points with third-placed Al-Merrikh, and three points behind leaders Sundowns.
Mosimane said he was extremely grateful to the leaders at Chiefs for welcoming Al Ahly in such fine fashion.
“Thanks to Kaizer Chiefs, thanks to the chairman Kaizer Motaung for offering us the facilities, the coach commented, as quoted by iDiski Times.
“We could not find any other facility in the country that has the pitch, that has area for the ice-baths, massages and the pool and the saunas. There is no facility in South Africa that has that. Naturena has those facilities.
“It was good for us to see because I hadn’t seen the facility myself and what an eye-opener to see there is team in Africa that has facilities like this, not just the pitch but the whole hospitality, also the lounge.
“Al Ahly will tell you that it’s a high-level facility. It’s the best facility in Africa, one of the best two I’ve seen on the continent in my 20 years as a coach.”
Al Ahly president Mahmoud El Khatib also sent a glowing letter to Kaizer Chiefs after they welcomed his club at Naturena.
“Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly’s president, sent an official letter on Friday morning to Mr. Kaizer Motaung, Kaizer Chiefs’ chairman, to thank him for honouring Al Ahly’s football club’s delegation in South Africa on the sidelines of Al Ahly’s visit to Johannesburg to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the fourth fixture of the CAF Champions League group stage,” read a statement on the club’s website.
“El Khatib, on behalf of the club’s board of directors, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Kaizer Chiefs and made sure that Al Ahly is open to any future collaboration with the South African club to serve the greater good of African football.”
Pitso Mosimane will be hoping to lead Al Ahly to victory after a defeat earlier in the competition against Sundowns
