The ongoing drama surrounding Strictly Come Dancing has intensified as fans express frustration over the fate of TOWIE star Pete Wicks in the competition.
With only nine couples remaining in the race for the coveted win, including Pete and his dance partner Jowita Przystal, fans believe that his next performance could see him advance to the prestigious Blackpool week, despite his recent struggles.
Week Seven Performance Draws Criticism
Pete and Jowita’s performance during Icons Week left much to be desired, as they landed at the bottom of the leaderboard with a low score of 22 points.
Despite their tough week, they are slated to perform a Couple’s Choice dance to the hit track “The Best” by The Nicotine Dolls.
This has led many viewers to speculate that Pete could “sneak” through to the next stage of the competition thanks to this favorable dance category.
Some fans voiced their discontent online, with one Reddit user posting, “Couples choice for weakest dancers. Definitely helping get Pete through.”
Others shared similar sentiments, suggesting that the producers have shifted their focus away from stronger competitors like JB and Shayne, who could face elimination against Pete and Chris.
Critics Weigh In: Ola Jordan Slams Pete’s Performance
Former Strictly pro Ola Jordan didn’t hold back in her assessment of Pete’s dancing abilities.
She called him “the worst one” in the competition and hinted that his time on the show was running out.
Ola, who competed on Strictly from 2006 to 2015, and won in 2009, acknowledged that Pete puts in a lot of effort but struggled during his performance.
Speaking to The Sun after Pete’s salsa, she remarked, “I can see Pete tries so hard and I felt sorry for him because he messed up badly at the beginning of his routine, but his lifts were amazing.”
However, Ola believes that Pete’s popularity with the audience is what’s keeping him in the game, adding that he’s “on borrowed time” and will likely be eliminated once he lands in the bottom two.
The Remaining Contestants: Strong Competitors and Big Names
While Pete’s future on Strictly remains uncertain, the competition is heating up as other famous faces continue to shine.
Comedian Chris McCausland, JLS’s JB Gill, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, and singer Shayne Ward are all still in the running, with the public eagerly watching how the leaderboard shifts each week.
Other notable contestants include Montell Douglas, Jamie Borthwick, Sarah Hadland, and opera singer Wynne Evans.
