Australian comedy legend Paul Hogan recently shared some candid thoughts about his son, Chance, during a conversation with Richard Wilkins on the Today show.
At 85 years old, the Crocodile Dundee star, who now resides in the US, opened up about his son’s struggles and his own desire to return to Australia.
While he misses his homeland, Hogan made it clear that for now, his home is in Los Angeles due to his son and some personal commitments.
Hogan Shares His Feelings on Living in the US
When asked about his connection to Australia and whether he ever thought about making a permanent move back, Hogan replied that he would love to return, even saying, “Oh, tomorrow.”
However, he emphasized that he stays in the United States primarily for business reasons and his son Chance, who is now 27 years old.
Hogan added, “I have business reasons and my son to stay in the States for now,” showing just how much his son’s well-being plays a role in his decision.
Chance’s Troubled Past and Public Struggles
During the interview, Hogan was asked about Chance’s condition, and he gave a somewhat positive update.
“Alright. Better than he gets,” Hogan said, referencing the frequent tabloid headlines about his son.
While Chance has often been in the news for erratic behavior, Hogan seemed to dismiss the concerns, adding that his son sometimes acts out for attention, knowing the media is watching.
Chance, who is the son of Hogan and his second wife, Linda Kozlowski, has been the subject of public concern multiple times, most notably in January, when he shared disturbing videos on Instagram.
In the videos, he appeared intoxicated, slurring his words while drinking wine at a public table.
His comments, including a troubling plea for help, “Please kill me. I’m begging you,” raised alarm among fans and followers.
The Hogan Family and Chance’s Life in Los Angeles
Despite these worrying moments, Paul Hogan has been relatively calm when discussing his son’s behavior.
The actor appeared untroubled when asked about Chance’s well-being.
Smiling, Hogan casually dismissed the concerns, stating, “Nah. It’s a lot of made-up stuff and a lot of it he [Chance] does on purpose.”
Hogan seemed to downplay the situation, showing a more relaxed demeanor amid the rumors surrounding his son.
Chance has had a turbulent life, particularly after his parents’ divorce in 2014.
Since then, he has been living with his father in Los Angeles. The father-son duo has been a fixture in Venice Beach, where Chance’s erratic behavior has made headlines before.
In November, troubling images surfaced of Chance buying beer and wandering Venice Beach’s back alleys, an unsettling sight for those familiar with his history.
Hogan’s Move to the US and His Relationship with His Son
Originally from Sydney, Paul Hogan moved to the United States after the immense success of Crocodile Dundee in the ’80s.
He eventually settled in Los Angeles with Linda Kozlowski in the ’90s.
Over the years, Hogan’s relationship with his son Chance has been under scrutiny, with the younger Hogan often in the spotlight for his personal struggles.
Despite all the media attention, Paul Hogan remains focused on his family and is deeply committed to supporting Chance through his challenges.
The legendary comedian, however, continues to find a balance between his career and family life, keeping a watchful eye over his son while also maintaining his own privacy in the public eye.
