Paranormal medium Kandis Starr has shared a chilling new video where she claims to communicate with the spirit of missing girl Joslin Smith.
This encounter comes just after the first anniversary of the disappearance of 7-year-old Joslin, who went missing from her home in Middelpos informal settlement in Diazville on February 19, 2024.
In the clip, posted to her YouTube account, Kandis Starr uses a spirit box, a tool believed to communicate with spirits, to try to make contact with Joslin.
According to Kandis, she believes the little girl has passed away, a sentiment she shared last year in an interview with The South African.
Paranormal Medium Claims to Speak with Joslin’s Spirit
In the video, Kandis Starr describes hearing a voice she believes belongs to Joslin, speaking through the spirit box. The voice allegedly says, “Hi, this is me.
I’m right here,” before continuing with haunting words like, “They’re guilty…kept me. Kept on hitting me, hurt me real bad…She let him.”
As the conversation goes on, the voice reportedly speaks about child trafficking and kidnapping, saying: “Hide me in the night…That’s a lie.”
When asked if she was alive or dead, the voice responds, “Passed..at home. I’m a soul, and I’m still angry.”
This new development adds to the already heartbreaking case surrounding Joslin’s disappearance, as local authorities continue to investigate the situation.
The Ongoing Case of Joslin Smith’s Disappearance
Joslin’s case remains a mystery as her mother, Kelly Smith, and two other co-accused—Jacquin “Boeta” Apollis and Steveno van Rhyn—are facing serious charges.
The three are accused of selling Joslin to fund their drug addiction.
Kelly Smith is currently in custody at Pollsmoor Prison, and her co-accused are held at the Malmesbury Correctional Centre.
During a pretrial hearing last month, Kelly appeared alone in court, with the other two defendants absent due to a clerical error. Their next appearance is scheduled for February 28.
New Details and Allegations in the Case
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) believes Kelly Smith and her partners in crime were planning to sell Joslin to feed their addiction.
The case has seen several twists, including the dropping of charges against two women, Lourentia Lombard and Phumza Sigaqa.
Lourentia is believed to have turned state witness.
Court documents reveal that Kelly and Joslin were seen getting into a white vehicle the day before Joslin went missing.
The mother is accused of accepting something from the driver and telling Joslin she wouldn’t be going to school that day.
A suitcase with clothing was allegedly packed for the child, and both were later seen returning to the white vehicle.
Kelly eventually reported Joslin as missing later that evening.
The three accused are facing charges of kidnapping and child trafficking.
Judge Gayaat Da Silva Salie has ruled that, since a case of missing persons is still open for Joslin, the court must proceed with the assumption that she is still alive.
What’s Next for the Smith Case?
The case is ongoing, and many questions remain about Joslin’s fate.
As the court proceedings continue, the public is left to wonder whether Joslin is still alive or if, as the spirit box interaction suggests, she has tragically passed away.
