The peaceful setting of Oloka village in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State was shattered when a violent attack hit the National Park office, leaving five forest guards dead.

Governor Makinde Labels Attack as Criminal
Governor Seyi Makinde described the attack on his X account as a criminal act carried out by cross-border bandits.
He emphasized the devastating nature of the loss, noting that the forest guards were killed while performing their lawful duties.
“Earlier today, there was a criminal attack by bandits at the National Park Office, Oloka village, which resulted in the death of five National Park Service forest guard officers.
This is a devastating loss of the lives of personnel in the course of carrying out their lawful duties,” Makinde wrote.
Security Agencies Investigate and Respond
Preliminary reports suggest that the attackers crossed into Oyo State from neighboring areas to carry out the operation.
Security agencies are now working together to investigate the incident thoroughly.
Additional personnel have been deployed to the affected area to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further attacks.
Governor Urges Calm and Cooperation
Governor Makinde appealed to the people of Oriire LGA and surrounding border communities to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities.
