Oswin Appollis, the rising star of South African football, has been the subject of growing rumors recently, with fans and pundits alike wondering if he might be on the move.

Despite the buzz surrounding his absence during Polokwane City’s recent victory, it looks like Appollis is staying put – for now.

Rested, Not Transferred: Clarifying Appollis’ Absence

Appollis was noticeably absent during Polokwane City’s 2-1 win over AmaZulu FC last weekend, sparking speculation that the talented midfielder might be preparing for a transfer.

However, the team’s coach, Phuti Mohafe, was quick to clear the air.

According to him, Appollis was merely resting after his stint with the national team and had not been dropped due to any potential moves.

This break was much needed, as Appollis had just come off a successful international match, scoring twice in Bafana Bafana’s 3-2 win over South Sudan in a 2025 AFCON qualifier.

Transfer Rumors Continue to Swirl

Despite remaining with Polokwane City for now, the 23-year-old has caught the eye of several major clubs.

Among the rumored suitors are South Africa’s most well-known teams, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

There’s also been talk of potential international interest, with reports linking Appollis to the Algerian club, USM Alger.

Agent Confirms Appollis’ Immediate Future

Lance Davids, Appollis’ agent, recently addressed the speculation.

Speaking through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Davids confirmed that, at least for now, his client would be staying with Polokwane City.

“I know there’s been a lot of interest in Oswin, but as of now, he remains contracted to Polokwane City,” Davids stated.

He also assured fans that they’d be the first to know if any changes occurred.

Appollis’ Impact at Polokwane City

In the current season, Appollis has only made one appearance for the club, during their MTN8 quarter-final against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Last season, however, he was a key player for Polokwane City, featuring in 31 matches across all competitions and contributing seven goals and five assists.

As the transfer window nears its close, it seems that Appollis will continue to be a central figure for ‘The Rise and Shine’ – but his future could still hold surprises.
