Orlando Pirates: THREE reasons Benni McCarthy is likely to take over!

Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids are the current interim coaches at Pirates.

However, given the recent state of affairs at the club, they may not remain in charge of the Bucs for much longer. This opens the door for several big names that were recently axed and who are currently available.

Stuart Baxter, Gavin Hunt and McCarthy are the names that stand out the most.

However, it is McCarthy’s name that is highlighted amongst every single Soweto giants supporter – whether a fan of Amakhosi or Pirates. He is far more likely to join the Buccaneers though – these are the three reasons we think so!

McCarthy is a Pirates legend, a PSL veteran and icon.

He made a name for himself playing for the Bucs and will certainly want to give back to the club he loved growing up. There is no better way to do this then to help mature, guide and lead the club to it’s former glory days.

Talk about the stars being aligned. McCarthy left AmaZulu within the same week that Pirates management critiqued Ncikazi and Davids. They were criticized for not being able to handle the egos in the squad.

Not only that but they have struggled in the DStv Premiership and have not made it to the CAF Confederations Cup in a while now. Enter McCarthy, the man who took relegation-threatened AmaZulu to a record second position in the PSL last season.

Reaching the CAFCL and in some style – finishing above Chiefs and Pirates and achieving history in the process!

Imagine what he can do with the depth of Pirates at his disposal. Players like Thembinkosi Lorch, Deon Hotto and Kwame Peprah learning from one of SA’s best strikers – a true icon to us.
