Orlando Pirates Near Completion of Double Transfer Deal for Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City Amid Rivalry with Kaizer Chiefs

Orlando Pirates are reportedly on the verge of securing a major transfer deal, one that could see them sign two key players from Polokwane City in the ongoing transfer window.

The club is set to edge out their bitter rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, in the race to land Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi.

Pirates Gaining Ground in Double Deal

As 2024 came to a close, Orlando Pirates were heavily linked to the duo from Polokwane City.

Appollis and Matuludi, who had also attracted the attention of Chiefs, seemed to be edging closer to joining the Buccaneers.

It quickly became clear that Pirates were ahead of Chiefs, having made significant strides to finalize the transfer of both players.

Late last year, it was reported that Pirates had agreed on transfer terms with Polokwane City.

The deal would see the Soweto club pay a fee of R15 million for the two players, along with the inclusion of one of their own players in the exchange.

However, the deal hit a snag when it was revealed that the player going in the opposite direction wasn’t yet finalized.

Delay Due to Player Exchange

The initial report indicated that Polokwane City was interested in acquiring Katlego Otladisa from Pirates as part of the deal.

However, Otladisa chose to move to Sekhukhune United instead, leaving the clubs to seek another player for the exchange.

It is now believed that Polokwane City has requested Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo from Pirates, which could cause further complications in the negotiation process.

Potential Obstacles in the Deal’s Finalization

This new development could potentially change the dynamics of the transfer.

According to sources, if Otladisa had been involved, the deal would have been more straightforward, with Pirates paying the R15 million for both players.

However, with Ndlondlo now in the mix, it could significantly alter the financial terms of the deal.

Finding a balance on the new valuation is expected to delay the transfer further, and Pirates fans are growing anxious about the outcome.

The long wait to see Appollis and Matuludi in Pirates colors continues, but many are hopeful that the deal will eventually be completed.
